A CLEARER VISION FOR CLAYTON COUNTY
PREVENTION
By investing heavily in our youth through Sheriff's Office initiatives, I aim to tap into the potential of our kids while proactively curving violent crime in our county before it happens.
Prevention will also include direct involvement between the me and you through HOA meetings, Annual State of the Sheriff's Office Address', Quarterly Town Halls, a continual direct line to me, etc.
No less than $100,000 per year of my annual budget will be allocated specifically for the your of this county. Here are a few ideas to give you insight into some of the initiatives that I plan to create as your next Sheriff.
- POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE
(S.O. led sports teams for various age groups that will be partnered with local partners to provide fully functional teams that will teach teamwork, hard work, resiliency, and descipline).
- SHOP WITH A DEPUTY
(An opportunity at Christmas time for the Sheriff's Office to be the Santa that some kids in our county might not otherwise experience.)
- SHERIFF FOR A DAY
(For kids who aspire to live a day in the hot seat, one at a time, kids will get a driver's seat experience of what it takes to be the Sheriff of Clayton County. Alongside me, kids will attend meetings, meet deputies, wear a badge and uniform, and ride in the Sheriff's police car... because it wouldn't be the Sheriff if there was no lunch involved.)
- SPONSORSHIPS
(Providing "backup" to various organizations throughout the county in support of their programs for our youth by providing an added resource.)
- SCHOLARSHIPS
(Creating and maintaining an annual scholarship fund to support and empower dreams.)
- FAITH & BLUE
(Partnering with faith leaders to create a partnership)
- CITIZEN DEPUTY ACADEMY
(Providing opportunities for citizens to emerse themselves and learn about what being a Deputy Sheriff is all about. Citizens will learn about Criminal Law, Civil Law, Jail Operations, Firearms Training, Investigations, etc.)
- COMMUNITY AWARENESS TRAINING INITIATIVES
Offering courses such as Women's Self Defense, First Aid, Human Trafficking, Domestic Violence, etc.
ENFORCEMENT
Providing well training and well equipped Deputies who will take the fight directly to those who seek to victimize Clayton County and all who live, work, and play her. Doing so boldly, relentlessly, and unapologetically.
REHABILITATION
Committing to the establishment of real opportunities for detainees of the Clayton County Jail to learn and grow while in our facility. Implementing GED, parenthood, career pathway, and other coursework aimed at creating a better tomorrow for detainees in our custody today.
MY INITIATIVES AS SHERIFF AT A GLANCE
SHERIFF'S ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Wanting to bring about lasting change, I want to form a Sheriff's Advisory Committee which will be assembled by community activist, families of inmates who lost their lives in the jail, and other change agents who will have a front row seat to the transformation process and a direct voice in it's implementation. Meeting regularly, we will work collaboratively to make this agency the best in the state. Their sole purpose is to dialogue with me directly regarding the roadmap to greatness.
SHERIFF'S FOUNDATION
The Sheriff's Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the well-being of our county through community engagement, education, and charitable initiatives. The Sheriff's Foundation supports programs that make a meaningful impact. With the help of donors, sponsors, and volunteers, the foundation directly supports the preventative component of the 360 degree concept.
Managed by a non-staff board of directors, it also serves as an invaluable resource to the employees of the Clayton County Sheriff's Office during life events for example.
