By investing heavily in our youth through Sheriff's Office initiatives (100K+ annually), I aim to tap into the potential of our kids while proactively curving violent crime in our county before it happens.
Too often, people act as if we have to choose between investing in our youth or enforcing the law. The truth is, the safest communities are built by doing both.
Youth involvement and prevention efforts are most effective when they work hand in hand with strong enforcement. We must reach our young people before they enter the criminal justice system by providing mentorship, opportunities, and positive engagement. At the same time, we must hold those who choose violence and prey on our communities accountable.
You cannot build effective, long-lasting rehabilitation programs inside a jail that isn’t operating at basic standards.
Before we can successfully expand educational opportunities, workforce training, substance abuse treatment, mental health services, and reentry planning, we must first restore order, safety, and basic operational standards.
That means ensuring the facility is clean, secure, adequately staffed, technologically equipped, and operating the way it was designed to operate.
When the foundation is broken, every program built on top of it suffers.
Our Year 1 Plan focuses on bringing the Clayton County Jail back to operational standards so rehabilitation efforts have the structure and stability they need to truly change lives.

January of 2018, I was arrested in Paulding County, Georgia for Simple Battery. The charge was dismissed in March of 2018 and the internal affairs investigation, conducted by the Georgia Department of Public Safety (Commonly referred to as the Georgia State Patrol), cleared me of wrong doing and I returned to work March 8, 2018.
